That is the case with the 1821 25 cent (proof), one of which was viewed and photographed at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Auctions’ Baltimore gallery.
The series of such thinking’s of this coin is the one referred to as the Capped Bust Quarters 1820-1838. Its designer was John Reich and it was made of 89.2% silver and 10.8% copper. If you are seeing it, you might not think that it holds silver unless you are knowledgeable regarding it.

Where was this Proof 1821 Quarter Dollars minted?
According to researchers, this quarter dollar was minted in Philadelphia. Besides this, the mintage that was produced was 15. This means that a mintage of 15 is very scarce and a coin having such a mintage can easily fall in the hands of a collector for a very hefty price.
Please do remember that it is often that there are thousands or millions of the same specimen. To this quarter dollar, researchers only have records of four or five samples at best. One of them is kept at the National Numismatic Collection in the Smithsonian Institute.
An example of a mother is the “D. Brent Pogue PCGS PR67,” which was sold for $23,5000 in the year 2015. The third-quarter dollar collector may know about the one that turned up in the Norweb sale as a one-sided proof. The fourth quarter dollar was bought as an NGC PR65 in the Eugene Gardner sale.

What was the sale record for this 1821 quarter-dollar coin at an auction?
The highest record of auction is established in 2023 and the price was $252,000. It has been said by some that there should be around 12 Proof 1821 Quarters but it cannot be that easily.

On the left side of this quarter dollar, there are 7 stars, while on the right side only 6. The 13 stars signify the first thirteen colonies that comprised the original states in the United States of America. The date it has is 1821 and is located at the bottom part of the picture. The reverse shows a two-headed eagle, which has the claws of the bird holding olive branches and arrows. On top of the eagle’s head there is a banner that says ‘E Pluribus Unum’.
